Scientists are proving that nutritional foods can be powerful weapons
 against the top three diseases that are killers of Americans today.

APPLES - - are high in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. The soluble fiber in apples,
 called pectin, has been credited with lowering cholesterol.

BROCCOLI -- is the ultimate health food. It belongs to the cruciferous vegetable family, which is linked with cancer-fighting activity --- particularly lung, colon and breast cancer.

BULGUR -- which belongs to the wheat family, is a major source of complex carbohydrates. Bulgur is also high in fiber, minerals and B vitamins. It protects against constipation and colon cancer.

CABBAGE -- is loaded with vitamin C (an antioxidant). It high in cancer-fighting activity --- particularly breast, stomach and colon cancer. Eat raw.

CANOLA OIL -- has the least saturated fat of all oils. It can lower total cholesterol.

CANTALOUPE --is an excellent source of the antioxidant beta carotene, which protects against cancer. It’s also high in vitamin C, Potassium, Folate, vitamin B6 and fiber.

CARROTS –are brimming with beta carotene. Recent research indicates that eating just one carrot two or three times a week can reduce lung-cancer odds.

CHICKEN SOUP – the vapors from hot chicken soup can relieve the congestion of head colds better than the steam from plain hot water.

CITRUS FRUITS AND JUICES – such as oranges, lemon, lime and grapefruit, have a high vitamin C content which produces a number of beneficial effects including: reducing cancer risks, boosting immunity, protecting against pollution, enhancing wound healing and reducing risk of cataracts.

COLLARD GREENS – rank as one of the most nutritious vegetables and are high in vitamin A, calcium, potassium and iron. Since they are especially high in the antioxidants vitamin C and beta carotene, they are linked to anti-cancer properties. The high calcium content helps women maintain healthy bones and thwart osteoporosis.
